Bailey had a great checkup yesterday at the pediatrician’s office. She is in the 75th percentile for height and weight, and is ‘above the midline’ (above average) for all her development skills/markers. She did really well and was good for the doctor, up until shot time, when she screamed. Of course, that’s to be expected with a 4 month old. Bailey continues to delight us with her laughs and smiles, and she slept til 7 a.m. this morning (whoo hoo!). She’s been a bit cranky today because of the shots, but it will pass.
Here are some 17 weeks pictures. Enjoy! And, if you haven’t watched the video of her laughing, scroll down. It’s hysterical!
I'm ready for anything, Mommy!
Our little Gator in training
Our little munchkin has found her funny bone. She’s been laughing more and more, and amazes us because she finds things genuinely funny: daddy’s weird faces, mommy laughing and tickling her, playing with toys in her crib, etc. I laugh almost as hard as she does watching her squeal with joy. It’s so fun to watch! We had friends over last Saturday night and they got to witness her laughs first-hand. These are moments to capture and remember. We see the pediatrician later today, so I can’t wait to hear what he says about her progress now that she’s 4 months old. She’s such a good little girl! Below is a video we took of her laughing today. Enjoy!
Bailey is 4 months old today. I say it over and over again so I sound like a broken record, but it is all happening so fast. Each day brings change and growth; our little girl is so full of inquisitive wonder and curiousity. This past week she has started laughing more; she got a kick out of Matt making faces at her over the weekend and began giggling at him. It was so precious. Then today before we took our walk, I was talking to her in the stroller and leaning over and making faces at her, and she started laughing loudly. I was crying I was laughing so hard… with her. It’s adorable moments like these when your child comes alive with joy that make you want to stop time and cherish the moment forever.
Bailey is also turning over, and she’s turning into a very determined little girl. She got that from me, her mom, I suppose. We put a new crib toy with a mirror up, and she has been kicking the beejeesus out of it. She purses her lips together tightly and unwinds her arms so they are fully extended, and off she goes, kick.. kick… kick. It’s funny to watch – she’s so serious! Thank goodness she can’t break it (yet).
We see the pediatrician next week. I hope he’s going to clear her for rice cereal as she’s eating a lot. I can’t keep up with our little bee! She’s sleeping now til about 5 a.m. consistently, so the 3 a.m. days are hopefully over (I say that now and have probably jinxed myself).

More kisses for me, Mommy!
I love my hand... and my organic monkey!
Today Bailey rolled over for the first time tummy to back and then back to tummy! We’re so excited for her. She’s hitting all the appropriate growth milestones at the right time. It’s so funny to watch her roll over! Such tremendous concentration!
Here are some more 15 weeks photos:
Bailey is 15 weeks today… the weeks continue to fly by and she’s getting bigger. Matt and I notice our arms getting tired more quickly with each passing day; our girl is getting heavier! She’s such a great eater and has a fantastic disposition. She lets you know if she’s hungry or tired, but otherwise she’s a very happy little girl.
She’s taking more interest in the things around her now – she’s grabbing, clutching and grasping things, and of course tries to pull everything towards her mouth. Each day holds a new discovery as her senses continue to develop and she explores her world. It is such a treasure watching her take in the world with every touch, breath, gaze and stare. Bailey is giggling more and is now very ticklish! Her tickle points are under her arms and neck; she will sometimes cackle if you goose her. It’s so adorable.
She’s still rolling over every day, but is frustrated because she can’t flip back over from her stomach. She tries and tries but still hasn’t figured out how to maneuver her legs and weight to rotate her body fully. I know she’ll probably get it in the next couple of weeks.
Next week is her 4 month check up so we’ll see what the doctor says about how she’s progressing. I imagine he’ll have her start on some rice solids as well since she’s eating so much. I can’t wait for her to try solid foods and taste fresh produce. One day she will really enjoy Daddy’s citrus… especially this time of year!

Bailey has been rolling over all this week, and enjoying every minute of it! She rotates back to tummy (usually preferring her left over her right side) and she immediately props her arms up under herself to push her head up. She’s exploring her world and taking in all life has to offer. She is such an inquisitive and curious little girl! She’s also been laughing more this week, which we love. Her giggles are hysterical; it makes me cry because I’m laughing so hard when I hear her exclaim her joy. She seems to think me saying, “Sugar booga” over and over again is funny. She gets a huge grin on her face and then starts welling up in a little giggle. It doesn’t last long, but it makes my heart jump for joy every time she does it. We live for these precious moments!
She’s still getting up between 4:30 and 5 a.m. some mornings, and sleeping til 6 or 7 a.m. on others. It just depends. She’s eating a lot at night, so I think she’s waking up because her diaper is soaked. I’m not sure. Hopefully once she starts a little bit of solids she’ll stretch a bit more and sleep a little later, which would be nice.
She got to see Grandpa yesterday and he took lots of cute photos of her which we’ll post once I get them back. She was smiling and enjoying her time with him, as she always does. She has had fun with Daddy this morning; she loves exploring new things with him and having him lift her up in the air like “Superbaby.”
Who me? I didn't do it! It was the cat, I swear!
I can roll over all by myself!
Why are you taking so many pictures of me, Mommy?
Bailey is 14 weeks old today… I can’t believe it. She’s growing so fast. She’s changing almost every day and hitting new milestones in her growth. Today she flipped over for the first time, back to tummy. We managed to get it on video. I can’t believe she’s already turning over. Once she’s on her tummy she doesn’t know how to flip back, but she’s doing one side fairly well. Once she’s on her tummy she’ll put her arms underneath her chest and push up so her head is up. Then she can see all around her. She loves it. She’s trying to scoot around and explore her world.
She’s still trying to pull herself up into a sitting position as well. She’ll sit on my lap and try to lean forward. She still doesn’t have enough muscular control to sustain herself and hold her head up at the same time, but the fact that she’s even attempting all this at this juncture is amazing, in my opinion. I think she’s going to be a very mobile child once she figures it all out. She’s definitely going to keep Mommy on her toes!
She slept through the night til 7 a.m. several nights last week, but she’s back to waking up between 5 and 5:15 a.m. now, scarfing down a meal quickly. I have a feeling we’re going to be adding rice cereal to her night meal soon in order to hold her over a little longer. She seems to have a fast metabolism!
The final and most exciting milestone for her is laughing. She’s giggled several times now; she loves when Daddy does his “earthquake” hand movements when she’s in her crib, and she laughed out loud 3 times last night before her bath when Daddy tickled her. (I had already found her ticklish spots, so it wasn’t hard to coax her laugh out.) Her laugh is contagious and very cute! It melts your heart to see your child giddy with joy.
Look at me holding up my head!
