Teeth on their way

Bailey is having a pretty good week thus far, though she’s been a bit tired and restless lately because her teeth are making their appearance. She has one top tooth and two bottom teeth that are very close to breaking the gum line. The top tooth seems to be coming in first. I can’t believe my baby is getting her first teeth! No more gum-laden cutie!

She has also been testing her balance skills the last few days. She will stand up, hold herself steady, then attempt to let go and balance. When she does it she stands perfectly still, and smiles at you as if to say, “Look at me, I’m getting closer to walking now!” It’s so cute. She’s discovered all kinds of things the last few days — how to open cabinet doors, the interesting sounds in the toilet, how to chase the cat and keep up, and how to pull plugs. (Yikes!)

She’s been napping better the last couple of days, which is good. I think she’s been pretty tired. The teething has brought on a runny nose and congestion, which wears her out. But she’s still got a good demeanor and seems to be handling it all in stride. Here are some of the latest pictures.

Sticky fingers

Bailey is turning into a marathon crawler. She can crawl across the whole house (she likes to chase my leopard-patterned slippers), and she is negotiating the tile, rugs, etc. very well. She has found the trash can this week, and loves banging on its stainless steel surface. It’s the greatest thing for her. She also likes paper napkins (she loves crumbling them up and then using them underneath her palm to scoot across the tile) and the Gerber Organic plastic food containers — she has played forever with the lids and bottoms! I guess you don’t need expensive toys. Pots and pans, tupperware and old spoons will do.

She’s doing better with her napping this week, though at times it’s a bit of struggle to get her to relax and lie down. But she’s getting used to the idea that Mommy is going to put her down when it’s time to nap, and that means you need to go to sleep. Sometimes she fusses, but she’s having a better time of it (at least this week).

She’s feeling better now. The rash is gone from her mosquito bite breakout, and her runny nose/cold/cough has abated as well, so she’s back to her perky self.

Here are some pictures from today’s escapades!

Where’s Bailey?

… The answer to that question is… everywhere! She has discovered her crawling legs, and our busy bee is getting into everything. She’s fascinated with picture frames, artwork, lint on the floor (ahhh!), pillows, the rug, the tile, electric outlets (much to my chagrin), you name it. She loves to pull herself up on anything that will support her weight and she rocks back and forth on her feet.

We also discovered that she loves sitting on top of Daddy’s shoulders and being chased, or being part of the chase. She laughs and shreiks. It is so stinkin’ cute! She also laughs when you play peek-a-boo with her, and Matt and I have this little dance we do with her and she smiles and laughs every time we do it. We’ll do anything to make her smile and laugh!

This last week has brought a lot of drama. Bailey broke out in hives due to several mosquito bites. It’s apparently common, but it was not fun seeing welts all over her little body! She also caught a cold from her Daddy, and her nose is a faucet. She hates being cleaned up, so it’s a challenge keeping her clean so she doesn’t continually reinfect herself. Alas, the cold is not stopping her from getting into things, though. She still has enough energy for that!
