Bailey is so happy to have Daddy home. She’s a little perplexed about what’s going on, but I can see it in her eyes that she’s missed him and can’t wait for him to play with her again very soon once he’s stronger!
She’s growing by leaps and bounds, and learning at the same rate. So much has happened in just one month! She’s loving her books, and welcomes storytime at the end of the day. She’ll even turn the page when you ask her to “Turn the page.” Such a smartie! She’s walking everywhere; she crawls very little now, and she is f-a-s-t on her feet! She’s saying “hi” and loves to try and take the TV remote and point it at the TV (even though she’s not learned how to change channels just yet). She can also answer the phone and say “hi.” Hilarious!
She’s eating all kinds of new foods: She loves Nana’s chicken pot pie, spaghetti noodles, cannellini bean soup, turkey, deli meat, cereal, and whole peas, carrots, corn and beans. She eats up yogurt wholeheartedly, and enjoys saltines and most types of crackers. She can drink from her sippy all by herself, and likes to feed herself whenever possible. Such a big girl!
Here are some recent photos!
Not much new to report; Matt is still recovering in the hospital from what we theorize was a massive viral attack on his organs coupled with a severe reaction to tamiflu resulting in liver failure, congestive heart failure and pneumonia.
But on a positive note, I wanted to post this ultra cute photo of Bailey just after her bath. She is so delicious! We love her so much.
Bailey misses her daddy so much this week. As many of you know, we all got sick the day after Labor Day with a freak illness. We thought it was the flu, but aren’t sure. Bailey and I have gotten better, but Matt’s health spiraled out of control, and he was admitted to the hospital on Friday, Sept. 11. The local hospital were perplexed by his declining health, which included liver failure, double pneumonia, pulmonary edema, kidney issues and congestive heart failure, so we got him transferred to a larger hospital’s liver transplant unit. A plethora of tests have been done on him: liver biopsies, more blood work than you can imagine, lymph node biopsies (a very invasive procedure that will leave Matt with a 2 in. scar at his chest/throatline), cultures and more labs. Nothing conclusive has turned up. We know the lymph nodes in every part of his body are acutely enlarged. His heart is “stiff.” He has congestive heart failure. He has fluid in and around his lungs.
Throughout this whole turmoil of mystery, we have clung with dear life to God. So many of our friends and family have supported us in prayer, love, faith and hope, to help pull Matt out of his medical darkness. It has been a long road, but one we are confident will bring him to healing, and renewed strength. We thank all of you for your love and prayers… the outpouring of support has been tremendous, and it has been amazing to watch God start a national prayer chain for my husband. No words can adequately express our thanks.
Below are recent pictures of Bailey… even with the hardship that has come this last 2 weeks, she has been the shining light that helps to give us strength and reminds us that God does do miracles, as she is one of His amazing blessings.
Bailey has had a wonderful Labor day weekend! She’s done lots of things: been outside for a walk, been swimming in the pool, went to church and played with the other babies in the nursery (where I’m told, she was “very talkative”). She also went to Angie’s for a pool/lake party, went and saw Nana and Grandpa and their growing peach orchard, and enjoyed lots of playtime with some new books and toys!
We finally got Bailey her very own toy phone to play with, as well as an old remote, since she’s been so enamored with the real thing (as most kids are). She loves playing with them, along with her new animals book, which she talks to and flips the pages as we read together. It’s so cute!
Bathtime is still very special, and Bailey can’t wait to get in the tub and play with her toys while she splashes around in the water. She hates getting out, and I think she’d stay in there all evening if you let her!
I'm ready to play soccer!
I need my Uncle Matt's OJ!
Can someone please help me lift this?
Bailey has been a busy bee this week, opening cabinet doors, digging out pots and pans to play with, finding her way into every crevice, pulling out fake moss from the silk plants, terrorizing the cat by pulling on his tail…. ahhh! You name it, she’s done it. Her curiousity never ceases to amaze us, and she is so inquisitive about her world.
She’s still taking steps here and there, but we thought she’d be running by now. I guess that’s a good thing that she isn’t! She’s loving her walks in the stroller every morning, and she loves pointing at objects. I identify them for her so she can start to associate a name with things. She’s learning so much!
