Bailey had a great first day at preschool at FUMC! She walked right in and seemed to immediately like her teachers. She got her picture taken, was enamored by “Oreo”, the hamster, and quickly sat down with the other kids to play with play-doh. I can’t believe how fast she’s growing up!When I picked her up, she said, “Mommy, I don’t like the pee pee juice.” I was like, “What?!?!?!” But I read the notes in her folder and saw they had apple juice with their snack. She’s never liked apple juice, so that explains THAT! She told me she had a good time and liked the kids in her class. When asked if she was ready to go to school again, she replied, “Are we going tomorrow?” It was so sweet. I think she did better than Mommy. Mommy cried on the way home. My “baby” is gone. Now she’s a little girl with her own desires, thoughts, opinions and dreams. At least I’m blessed enough to be on this journey with her and watch her grow up. What a miracle.

It’s been a BIG week for Bailey! We found out she was accepted into the FUMC Preschool program, and we are so thrilled! For her to be learning in a Christian environment with teachers who really care about her is such a blessing. I met her two teachers, Kirsten and Sarah, and they are great. Bailey will even have a “class pet”… a hamster! (Just don’t send it home or our cat may eat it.)
In preparation for the baby’s arrival, we’re busy getting Bailey all situated with her new “big girl” things. She is getting her new big girl bed this week, which she is enthralled with in theory, but we’ll have to see what happens when it actually gets here. So, this weekend, we went shopping for a twin mattress. She loved it! We could barely drag her out of the mattress store, and she jumped on every bed she could. (Thank goodness for patient salespeople.)
We settled on a mattress and brought it home today, and she’s been jumping on it ever since. We hope to break her into it and settle her down some so that when the bed frame actually gets here, she’ll SLEEP in it rather than just play! It should be a very interesting week.We also got much of the furniture moved for the new baby room, and we were able to move some things around in the house that now look better than they did before. Sometimes, being practical also helps with interior decorating! Thanks to my mom for the furniture moving suggestions. We also got our new BOB duallie stroller (see photo below video below), which Bailey is very excited about as well! Here’s a video of our jumping bean on her new mattress!

We decided this time around to do a maternity photo shoot, so I’d always remember what I looked like (not that women necessarily want to remember feeling fat!). But I wanted to have some artistic photos done to capture the memories. The photographer was amazing and a real trooper who was very patient with Bailey in the heat. The photos were shot at Lake Louisa State Park, which is a beautiful setting. I just wish it had been cooler! It was a scorching 95 degrees out in the July humidity, but you would never know it from these photos!
Bailey has thoroughly been enjoying her summer with all her cousins and new friends. Her cousin Nicholas got some ducks and chickens he’s raised from infancy, and she has been enamored with them from day one. Whether it’s picking them up, talking to them, or chasing them, she’s enjoyed every minute with the ducks! They have names like E.R., Little Bit (the miniature chicken), and the other ducks aren’t named, but Bailey loves these animals so much. She looks forward to going to Aunt Marty’s and can’t wait to see them.Bailey is also getting very excited for her little sister to arrive. With just 4 weeks to go now, I’m not sure I can get any bigger! It’s been a bit crazy with work schedules and trying to wrap up major projects before she arrives, but we’re very excited and so blessed to have another baby girl coming. Bailey has been so nurturing to Mommy, and she hugs my belly and talks to her little sister all the time. In the morning, she comes in to greet me and says, “Good morning, baby sister!” It’s so sweet. These are memories that I’ll always cherish.
I had a wonderful baby shower at the Ritz Carlton last weekend thrown by my mother-in-law and sister-in-law. It was fabulous and the wonderful group of women there were just so amazing to come and be so supportive. I am so thankful for all who have prayed for our family. We feel eternally blessed by these relationships. The tea itself was delicious, and the sandwiches and desserts the Ritz served were heavenly. I was definitely craving the chocolate! And my mom made some wonderful peach/strawberry jam and beautiful recipe cards that everyone took home. All in all, it was a fabulous day!I am going to try to update this blog more often now that I’ve migrated everything to Posterous. Their mobile and email blogging technology makes it much easier to update, and even though I build websites for a living, I need something that works for me personally and is easy to use! Here’s Bailey with the beloved chickens. Go ahead and laugh!
